The island of Tenerife, the biggest of the Canary Islands, is a volcanic island that is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year. You are sure to find something great to do on Tenerife. There is every kind of activity available and sunshine all the year.

Tenerife is a great place for everyone to go on holiday. Couples, groups of friends and family groups will enjoy the white sandy beaches and all of the other wonderful things you will find there.

Of course, most vacationers go to the south of the island for the typical vacation activities at Puerto de la Cruz, Costa Adeje, and Playa de las Americas. However, there are a lot of other things you can do on the island as well. Mount Teide, standing 12,000 feet in the center of the island, dominates the view. It is quite awe-inspiring. Santa Cruz, Tenerife’s capital, lies to the north and has great shopping, many museums and art galleries, and an opera house on the waterfront noted for its architectural appeal. See the stunning areas of the Anaga Mountains to the East, historical LA Laguna and beautiful La Orotava.

THE TENERIFE WEATHER OUTLOOK

Tenerife’s climate may vary dramatically according to the location.

Weather in Tenerife, South: Because the bigger holiday resorts are found in the south of Tenerife, that is where the majority of tourists go. From May to November, the average temperature is 20-26ºC, but the breeze helps mitigate the heat somewhat. The ocean reaches a median temperature of 23ºC.

Winter temperatures — December through April — are still relatively warm, with temperatures of 12 to 18ºC. It rains more in the winter months than it does in the summer. The ocean waters are brisker in wintertime, but brave souls still enjoy year-round swimming.

Weather in Tenerife, North: Compared to the south, Tenerife’s northern region is cooler and rainier with a hot summer. The summertime is usually a little overcast with a higher potential for rainfall. The temperatures range from 20-24ºC from June to October. There is some rainfall in the early months and about five days of rain in October.

On average, the temperature is around 18ºC during the day and 12ºC during the evening throughout the autumn. It is still comfortable to swim in the ocean during the autumn months.

From December to February are the winter months. During these months, the weather is rainier and cooler compared to Tenerife South. The land temperatures are usually 9ºC to 12ºC and the ocean is about 19ºC.

Although the nights can still be cold, weather during the spring time is when the temperatures start to rise.

Mount Teide Weather: When you climb Mount Teide, be ready for the weather to change! Even in the summer, it is a good idea to take a jacket with you, as you are at a higher altitude at the top of Mount Teide. You will find it is a good bit chillier there. You will also find a lot more rainfall here. In the wintertime, snow covers the mountain.

Lanzarote offers a type of striking beauty that you won’t see anywhere else. It’s volcanic history provides beaches ranging from the purest white sand to startling volcanic black. Many people remark that the landscape in Lanzarote has an alien feel, yet it possesses its own rare beauty.

Lanzarote Weather

The weather in Lanzarote is hot, with low rainfall and plenty of sunshine all year, making it a wonderful holiday destination.

Summer is from April to November in Lanzarote. The days are hot and dry. In August, the temperatures are between 24°C to 29°C. It is quite warm with lovely sea breezes lifting the oppressive quality of the heat.

From December to March, Lanzarote’s winter weather is warm during the day and cool in the evenings. If you want a winter break that is filled with sunshine, you will appreciate the temperatures, which range from 21°C to 23°C.

Who vacations in Lanzarote?

People looking for year round gorgeous warm weather find Lanzarote the best holiday location. Lanzarote is an excellent choice for families, couples, those who want to relax and people who want to experience the nightlife.

Lanzarote Landscape

The landscape in Lanzarote is arid. Some say it is almost like the moon! This is because the island has a very dramatic history of volcanic activity. There was a very big eruption in 1730. In fact, it was one of the most powerful volcanic blasts ever. It completely changed the southern areas of the island. About a quarter of the island of Lanzarote is taken up by the Timananfay National Park. Here you will find a dazzling volcanic landscape that includes the “Mountains of Fire” or Montanas del Fuego.

The Mirador del Rio is in the northernmost part of Lanzarote and is a lookout point where you can see panoramic views of all the smaller islands that are to the north of the Lanzarote. The island of Lanzarote has a dramatic volcanic landscape as well as gorgeous beaches, in colors from bright white to yellow and even black.

You will enjoy water sports and fun in the sun in the south of Lanzarote. Here you will find a string of lovely beaches lining the coast from Arrecife to Puerto del Carmen. Among them are the Playa Chica and the Playa Grande. If you enjoy surfing, you will enjoy the Famara beach and the La Santa reef on the west of Lanzarote. If you like windsurfing, head to Costa Teguise resort. You will find Las Cucharas there. It is a favorite spot for windsurfing.

One of the very best beaches in Lanzarote is Papagayo. You will find it in the south near the Playa Blanca resort. It features gorgeous white beaches that stretch down to indigo blue seas. It’s no surprise that it’s very popular with vacationers visiting Lanzarote!

Gran Canaria is nicknamed “a miniature continent,” and it’s easy to see why, with its diverse terrains and climates, from fertile land in the north to desert land in the south and rugged terrain in between. The third largest of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria can be found off the African Coast. It is between Fuerteventura and Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean. Gran Canaria is considered a great holiday tourist destination because of the resorts and the busy, modern appeal of its capital Las Palmas. You can find gorgeous beaches on the south coast to swim, sunbathe or play water sports, and there’s plenty of nightlife after that. You can visit the island any time because of its consistently mild climate, and On The Beach can help you find great deals for flights and lodging so your Canary Island trip can be wonderful.

Weather

Gran Canaria’s climate is pleasant, remaining at a mild temperature all year, so no matter when you come, it’ll always seem like a nice summer day on the beach. The mountains and the trade winds give Gran Canaria the many microclimates that have earned it the nickname “a miniature continent.” The climate of the mountain ranges from continental or tropical to snow capped peaks.

Gran Canaria reaches temperatures of 26° Celsius to 30° Celsius on average during the summer and 22° Celsius to 24° Celsius in the winter. There is warm sun at any given time, and if you’re heading to the mountains in the winter, you might want to bring along a jacket.

Attractions

Gran Canaria is full of wonderful attractions to visit — museums, architectural sites, shopping markets, even water parks. When you visit Las Palmas, be sure to go to Vegueta. Here you will find a home that Christopher Columbus may have stayed in during his transatlantic voyages. It is called Casa de Colon and contains many fascinating relics of the Columbian times. The Museo Canario is the main museum in Las Palmas. Here one can find the largest collection of Cro-Magnon skulls in the world. It also describes the lives of the first inhabitants of Gran Canaria, the Guanche people.

The botanical garden, Jardin Botanico Canario Viera y Clavijo, is located southwest of the capital city. Spain’s largest botanical garden, it boasts a diverse array of plants. The three large water parks on the south side of the island provide great fun activities for families. They are: Aquasur and Ocean Park both near Maspalomas, and Aqua park near Puerto Rico. In Vega de San Mateo, Teror, Arguineguin, San Fernando, and Puerto de Mogan, you will find fascinating markets that sell both local produce and tourist items.

It is a lively, compact city with many pedestrians and outdoor cafes on its street, providing a decidedly Mediterranean ambiance.

It is a wonderful city to use as a base from which you can explore the resorts that are not too far away. You can also watch the birds at the serene lakes. Bourgas’s long beach and neighboring Marine Park are popular for walking. The region’s economy is thriving on the shoe stores, trendy clothing stores and new arcades, and with its restaurants and bars, Bourgas is popular throughout the year.

Early June is when the season begins, with the city filling up with people and no vacancies available in the hotels. The season ends as September winds down. Bourgas isn’t the most famous beach spot, but it still has much appeal as a seaside town with many things to do. The country’s largest sea port is Bourgas’ port.

Many people stay in Bourgas and take day trips to the nearby resorts, such as Sunny Beach, 30km (19 miles) north and quaint Sozopol, 34km (21 miles) south, and UNESCO-protected historical town, Nesebar, 20km (12 miles) north.

Attractions

Bourgas’s number one attraction is definitely the crystal-clear water. People who want to visit the nearby seaside resorts begin in Bourgas. In the north, they visit the Slantchev Bryag resort (Sunny Beach) and the Elenite Holiday Village. In the south, there is the Duni Holiday Village, famed for its unusual architecture.

In Bourgas’s Sea Garden Park, visitors can relax and take in the natural beauty of the island. Colorful beds of flowers, trees, and sculptures are scattered on the high shore location. Located inside the park is a tiny zoo, a theatre in the open-air, and a casino. Promorski Park is a perennial favorite of families. Children just adore the bouncy castle, the merry-go-round, and the helter-skelter.

The climate is ideal for a restful week or two getaway on holidays to Menorca. The holiday season in Menorca is May to October, and the island gets 315 days of sunshine every year — perfect to escape dreary British weather.

Menorca usually is about 30° Celsius in the summer, but late summer months like August can get even hotter. And the Mediterranean breeze lets you catch up on your tan while being able to take a break from the sun and walk on the sand without getting burned. The temperature is warm enough that you can visit in June or September to have the same pleasant weather without all the riff-raff.

Attractions

Menorca has many different activities that are family-friendly, and there is enough nightlife to entertain adults as well. There are many historical sites in Menorca like navetas, or ancient burial sites; in fact, the naveta Es Tudons is Europe’s oldest building. Boat tours, especially glass bottom boat tours, are proving very popular in Menorca.

You just can’t go on a Menorca holiday and not go to the beaches — be it a tiny cove such as Alcaufar or a sunsoaked paradise such as Sant Tomas, Menorca has some of the finest beaches in all of Europe. For an extra touch to your Menorca holiday, go when the island has a fiesta or one of its three-day festivals with dancing, food, and cultural experiences. Ciutadella’s celebration of Sant Juan is the largest fiesta on the island and thus draws plenty of tourists.

One reason is that it is quick and easy to get there. Another is that the weather is just fabulous. Still another good reason to go is that there is something for everyone of every age, taste and income. You may see the rich and famous there, or you may see your postman.

Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands. In fact, the name is derived from the Latin word meaning “larger island”. Nonetheless, it is easy to drive from one end of the island to the other in just a couple of hours. Every part of the island features a wonderful attraction. You can stroll through idyllic villages like the lovely Puerto De Soller on the coastline. You can have a blast at hot holiday spots like Magaluf. You are also sure to enjoy visiting the capital. Palma has an amazing history, making it a city worth seeing. You’ll find tapas bars, boutiques, and the well-known Gothic cathedral. There’s are enough to satisfy every taste. There’s something for everyone, whether you want to relax with your partner, tour the island with your whole family, or go out partying with your best friends.

Weather

Majorca usually has about 300 days of sunshine a year. Its typical Mediterranean climate guarantees you will be able to wear your new summer clothes and sunglasses a whole lot while you are on holiday. As you might expect, the hot months in Majorca are the same as those in the United Kingdom. From June to September, the skies are blue and the sun is shining. In July and August you will find temperatures around 80 degrees. Nonetheless, if you decide you want to explore the mountains, you should take a sweater or light jacket. It can be a bit chilly up there. From September to November, the Spaniards often carry umbrellas. However, the temperature is generally a bit cooler in the winter, although it never gets lower than 9 degrees.

Attractions

After you leave the beach, you will enjoy Majorca‘s attractions and night life. Additionally, if you have children, you will find plenty of fun. You can ride a glass bottomed boat around the island, take a trip to Aqualand (a waterpark in Magaluf) where you and your kids will enjoy rides and wave pools. There is also a Marineland located in Costa d’en Blanes. Here you and your kids will enjoy being entertained by penguins, dolphins and sea lions. For a crowd of adults, the harbor at Santa Ponsa and the capital city Palma are excellent places to visit. Celebrities are rumored to frequent both areas, so it’s a great place to be chic. You can see everything on Majorca. There are bazaars, cathedrals, restaurants, bars, castles, boats – you name it, you‘ll find it here!

Majorca is just as lively in the evenings. Evening excursions are commonly offered by the hotels. You will be whisked away for fine dining, wine, and entertainment consisting of Flamenco dancers and castanet players. Those who prefer to go solo can find many different bars, clubs and restaurants, such as Magaluf’s well known venue BCM. Be sure to look up what theme the nightlife is holding that night — you don’t want to come unprepared to a foam party!

Bahaman Vacation! Just the mention conjures up images of splendor in the tropics. However, you’ll find that this Atlantic island chain exceeds your wildest imagination. A group of seven hundred islands, barren rocks and tropical cays bordering a clear blue ocean between Florida and Cuba, the Bahamas integrate all the pleasure and adventure of a top rate holiday with a relaxed atmosphere that will leave you no choice but to be cool, regardless of how hot it is.

All of the islands have one thing in common, and that is true and pure beauty! You will encounter this from the busy capital of Nassau all the way to the pristine beaches of Exuma. A Bahaman vacation will truly be a visit that will stay in your memory!

Weather: Just eight hours flight from the UK will put you in a different world. The Bahamas give you a complete break in terms of relaxation, attitude, and climate. The Bahamas are located on the north side of the Caribbean Sea, with 500 miles of the most translucent water in the world (No kidding!) The weather and the people are lovely, warm and relaxed.

If you don’t enjoy high humidity and rubbing sun block on every hour, you will be especially thrilled with the fact that the temperatures never exceed 30 degrees Celsius in the middle of summer. They rarely drop below 15 degrees Celsius in the winter. Mild breezes and continuous sunshine offer the best conditions for swimming, water sports, and frolicking with the friendly dolphins in the clear waters near the Blue Lagoon.

Attractions: Clichés exist because they are sometimes true, and here’s one now! There’s something for everybody in the Bahamas! Here are a few of the things you will find: A great water park (Aquaventure) with an Atlantis theme, nature trails on Bimini, Paradise Island’s gorgeous port, Nassau’s museums, The barbershop-pole lighthouse museum, and historic Fort Charlotte, which dates back to the 18th century.

Additionally, you will find all the entertainment you could wish for in New Providence and the Grand Bahamas (the main islands). However, if you still want more, it is easy to travel around the islands by ferry or by airplane (scheduled or chartered). You can enjoy shopping, entertainment, the great outdoors and adventure of all kinds (even a Haunted House on Eleuthera!)

Even absolute Anglophiles who adore the English countryside, cooking, and cricket like to get away from the climate from time to time. The pros tell us it’s always good to get away from our daily routine every once in a while. This isn’t feasible in every case, but taking several annual vacations is becoming more and more common. Even though European affordable flights give you a wonderful opportunity to get away, a lot of people like to go abroad, where good weather is promised and life slows down.

You can stop searching because On The Beach will deliver the ultimate vacation in beautiful Antigua! The main island of the Antigua and Barbuda archipelago is Antigua. This island is a romantic tropical paradise. It is dotted with British Empire-era forts. Some of these are ruins, and others have been restored. Their scenic beauty delights vacationers who want to add some culture to their beach trip!

When you’re craving a Caribbean vacation for the ultimate in relaxation, Antigua is a perfect choice!

Weather

Have fun at a different beach each day during your visit on Antigua. Enjoy the temperate weather with minimum temperatures between 23° and 26° Celsius, and maximum temperatures between 27° and 31° Celsius. If you visit between September and November, expect some brief rain showers; however, overall the climate is dry and sunny.

Keep in mind that the sun in Antigua is quite intense due to the islands proximity to the equator. Actually on a day that seems to be cloudy, you can still be affected by the rays, so spend a lot of time relaxing in shady areas and bring a nice suntan lotion with you!

Attractions

People who think history is interesting should visit the English Harbor to see Admiral Nelson’s Dockyard, where he lived for three years. This boat launch, located in the capital city of St. Johns, is frequented by many well-to-do yacht enthusiasts, who will be glad to recommend a spot for dining or drinks.

Be sure to include a visit to the awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Cathedral, with its stucco exterior and ceiling of wood beams. The magnificent church of St. John the Divine, which you’ll find at Johns is a spot you won’t want to miss, offering a brilliant vista of the capital.

You can find adventure and fun on Sal, a popular holiday destination located in the Cape Verde archipelago. The Portuguese word for “salt” is Sal, and that is how the island got its name. You will love the sunny, year-round climate.

Originally, the population was great because of salt production, however tourism has rapidly succeeded as the main business. Sal is a great holiday destination for people who love to relax on flat, sandy beaches. The northwest winds give you the perfect breeze to enjoy windsurfing, catamarans, and other water sports. Champagne sails or cruises are other favorite activities to do on Sal holidays.

The population of the island is about 8000 people, most of which are of Portuguese and African descent. The natives are gracious and very hospitable to travelers. You can enjoy the best holiday experience in Cape Verde on Sal, thanks to its many wonderful resorts and hotels. You can find a luxurious grand hotel or a simple room. You will find very popular destinations along the beautiful, sandy beaches of Sal. On the island of Sal, three out of the four main roads are paved. All in all, Sal is a very contemporary island.

The European Union and World Bank gave Cape Verde quite a bit of assistance. This has enabled Sal to become an even more appealing holiday destination. The government expects to apply this aid to bring more quality tourism and help the fishing business. Resorts are constantly being upgraded on Cape Verde, so tourists can expect the holiday experience to just get better and better. The international airport at Sal makes it very easy to travel from the UK for a holiday. If you want to take day trips to the other islands within the Cape Verde archipelago, the airport can provide transportation.

Santa Maria and Murdeira are two favorite beaches and resort areas for the holidays. The most popular destination for visitors to Sal is Santa Maria. The white sandy beaches are spacious with lovely and amazing clear blue waters. As we said before, you are sure to enjoy the popular water sports, like wind surfing, when you visit Sal. The lighthouse, located in the southern area of the Santa Maria island, is a favorite site for tourists to travel to also.

When you go to Sal on holiday, be sure to visit Murdeira. This fast growing resort area can be found just off the main highway between Espargos and Santa Maria. There is a great tourist center and a wonderful atmosphere at Murderia. The more people who visit Sal, the more resorts and hotels will be built on the beaches and coastlines. Tourist destinations will continue to become better and better with the passage of time.

You will have a terrific holiday on Sal enjoying beautiful beaches, great water sports, and more.

Fuerteventura is located just off the coast of Africa. In addition to the dazzling beaches, you will be amazed by the rugged terrain of this windswept Atlantic island. The desert plains, low-lying mountains, and rolling dunes give this island a distinctive atmosphere. This is the second biggest Canary Island; however, it has the least amount of people. Additionally, it may just have the best beaches in the entire archipelago.

You will find two major resorts on Fuerteventura. On the northern side is Corralejo. It is the biggest and most popular resort. On the southern side is Morro Jable, which is a little more sophisticated and a favorite location for surfers. You’ll have your choice of a number of small resort locations, along with quiet coastal spots where you can relax in seclusion. If you are looking for the best prices on accommodations, airline tickets, and everything else about your Fuerteventura holiday, be sure to contact On the Beach.

Weather

The weather is pleasant all year long in Fueteventura with January’s average temperature being 17 degrees Celsius and August’s temperature being 25 degrees Celsius. There is a Spanish seasonal wind called the leveche or the sirocco. It raises the temperature greatly and brings on sandstorms. There is very little rain on Fuerteventura. In fact, it is quite desert-like year-round. If you enjoy spending a lot of time on the beach, this is the perfect holiday spot for you.

Attractions

Fuerteventura has a number of wonderful attractions in addition to the gorgeous scenery and the lovely beaches. Located by Costa Calma at the southern tip of the country, you’ll find Oasis Park in La Lajita. This is where you can see a large variety of animals such as alligators, giraffe, zebras, monkeys, and several types of birds. You can also go for a camel ride through the lovely botanical gardens.

Corralejo, on the island’s north coast, is home to Baku Water Park, which recently opened. It has many water rides and activities. Also available are ten-pen bowling, crazy golf, and range driving. There is also an Animal Area of the park that includes sharks, stingrays and sea lions.

The early 20th century philosopher, Miguel de Unamuno once lived in Puerto del Rosario. You can visit his home/museum today. It is called the Casa Museo de Unamuno. Betancuria is a lovely, sleepy little place. It is tucked away in the hills in the middle of the island. It is a terrific place to learn about the history of Fuerteventura. This locale is home to historic Iglesia de Santa Maria, as well as the ruins of an ancient monastery. You will marvel at the architectural wonders of this 17th Century church. Be sure to stop in at Museo de Arte Sacro to view the sacred art on display.
